On the Internet nobody knows you have a tumblelog.
A mash-up that shouldn’t work but does perfectly. RAW BUD take SWEETIE IRIE’s vocals from RONI SIZE’s ‘Rise Up’ and add their own nu-punk backing track. It’s totally immense sounding and has massive crossover potential. Think KLF with extreme noise terror or snuff with bizzare inc.- Runnin Riot quote for “Raw Bud Vs. Roni Size - Rise Up” (CD)
[…] The 44k samples per second of the CD limits the upper frequencies to 22kHz. Yes, that’s higher than you can hear, but all the high frequency harmonics are gone. Those harmonics color the frequencies you CAN hear. Plus, the closer you get to that 22k, the more aliasing you have.Analog mastering introduces noise, but digital mastering introduces rounding errors and aliasing. If you have an analog medium from a digital master, or a digital medium from an analog master, you have the worst of both worlds, with th edisadvantages of both and the advantages of neither. The LP of Led Zeppelin’s Presence will sound better than the CD (provided your turntable is good enough), while the CD of Nirvana’s Smells Like Teen Spirit will sound better than an LP version no matter how good your turntable is.Digital has a far larger dynamic range than analog, but oddly the only place you see those dynamics is in the movies, and they’re done badly there. I’ve wished for a “dynamics compression” module so I could watch a movie where the music wasn’t thundering while the speech is berely audible. CDs, OTOH, almost never use the dynamic range they are capable of. I can NOT for the life of me figure out why the LP version of Boston’s first album has so much more dynamics than the CD version; technically, the CD should have more dynamics. It’s just a matter of bad remastering. From a comment to Digitizing Rare Vinyl

[…] The CDs, released in 2002, were marketed as crisp updates of the originals, with no mention that the sounds of bassist Bob Daisley and drummer Lee Kerslake were cut out and replaced by Robert Trujillo and Mike Bordin. Loyal fans of Osbourne ridiculed the move, which came after Daisley and Kerslake filed lawsuits in a dispute over unpaid royalties from the original albums. Fans claim there’s “a noticeable difference” in the changed rhythm sections on the original and remastered albums, while Wester (a fan also suing) says the change “forever alter[ed] and stain[ed] the legacy” of the originals, as the new version “bears little relation to the original.” A Sony spokesman could not be reached. Wester did not return a call to his Belleville-area home. Wester’s Chicago attorney, Ben Barnow, said “consumers are supposed to get what they paid for. … For a product as treasured as these albums, to change the ingredient is to change the product.” Barnow wants class-action status for the suit. He hopes to recover damages on behalf of anyone who felt deceived after listening to the 2002 version of the albums. CLASS ACTION SUIT FOR OZZY REMASTERS
In the wake of a lawsuit by former band members Daisley and Kerslake (reportedly for unpaid royalties), Osbourne’s catalogue was remastered and reissued again in spring 2002. This time, the original bass guitar and drum tracks on Osbourne’s Blizzard of Ozz and Diary of a Madman were removed and re-recorded entirely by bassist Robert Trujillo (Suicidal Tendencies, Infectious Grooves, currently of Metallica) and drummer Mike Bordin (Faith No More).[24] The pair also played on Osbourne’s studio album, Down to Earth from 2001. Other releases, such as Speak of the Devil, The Ultimate Sin, Just Say Ozzy and Live and Loud were deleted from Osbourne’s catalogue entirely, though they are still on iTunes. [Osbourne] has also come under fire from former musicians such as Bob Daisley, Lee Kerslake, and Phil Soussan for not paying them royalties and giving them credit on the albums they played on. Bob Daisley and Lee Kerslake sued the Osbournes in 1986 for outstanding royalties from songs written for the Blizzard of Ozz releases, and for reinstatement of performance credits. Litigation continued in 2002 when Daisley and Kerslake (and bassist Phil Soussan) once again sued for unpaid royalties. The Osbournes responded by erasing their contributions on the original masters and re-issuing new versions with the bass and drum tracks re-recorded by Robert Trujillo and Mike Bordin.
